Summer Wind

For this painting Donna limited the colours, making it monochromatic. She enjoys the contrasts.

Do not doubt and be blown and tossed by the wind, for even the stormy winds do His bidding. James 1:6 Ps 148:8

I call this painting Summer Wind symbolically. Summer is a time of pleasantness, warmth, calmness—but even in the summer the wind can rise and bring violent storms. In the summers of our lives we will still face storms. In this painting the wind is starting to rise, the colours of the skies and surroundings change. I show this woman to be prepared, she is arrayed in clothing that speaks of strength, even her adornments are strong. The cloak over her shoulders will provide warmth if the wind brings a chill. Her expression is peaceful and totally unafraid. She knows that in the storm she grows stronger and she sees beyond it’s threats.
